Yevla (Yevle) – Introduction
Yevla is a small town in the Yevla taluka of Nashik district, Maharashtra, India. The town is world-famous for its traditional hand-woven Paithani sarees. Although in some places, power looms are now being used, Yevla is still renowned for its traditional Paithani embroidery and intricate designs, especially the peacock motif, which is very popular. Many Paithanis produced here are also exported.

Historical & Cultural Facts
- Tantia Tope, a famous freedom fighter of the 1857 Indian uprising, was born in Yevla.
- Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar made his famous statement here on 13th October 1935:
“I was born a Hindu, but I will not die a Hindu.”
A memorial named Muktibhoomi was built at this site in 2014. - Yevla is also known as a drought-prone taluka, where onion cultivation is widely practiced.
